No, solvent based paver sealers will add some gloss but there are different levels of shine. The Super Seal Matte (matte-gloss) has the lowest amount of shine while still darkening like a wet look.

I have a brick paver walkway. It is about 3 years old, never been sealed. From what I have read, solvent type sealers seem to be better than water based. I am concerned though about the level of gloss. I sort of like “the dry look” which has no gloss whatsoever. Is there a solvent based sealer that will give me that “dry look”?
You should not have an issue after full curing then. May be a little slippery for the first couple of weeks though.
Never had anyone ever mention that the sealer was “hot” from the sun.

pavers are a little over one year old, never sealed before. Forgot to ask, will the deck still be cool on the feet or will the sealer grab more heat from the sun? and thanks
Nothing wrong with pressure washing pavers. Clorox (bleach) is not a good cleaner.
You can spray or roll on paver sealers but either way the sealer should not get into the pool water if possible.
Sealers that are breathable are much less likely to be slippery. Typically our SuperSeal25 (25-semi-gloss) is not slippery after full cure (2-3 weeks) since it is a breathable sealer. Exception would be if there is currently a buildup of old sealers already on the pavers.

I have a pool with paver deck. I would like to get a sealer that will give it the wet look, but not be slippery for my grandchildren. What would you recommend? I have asked 2 paver sealer companies and they both contradict each other. 1 says clean first with power wash, other says no power wash, it will loosen the pavers, only clorox? Also concerned with the application especially on the bullnose, without getting any sealer in the water, 1 says they brush it on, other says they spray and dont worry about the pool? Can you help?
You could add more of the 25 if you still have some or the SuperSeal300 will give more shine. Buildup of caotings will result in a higher gloss.

Hi I put 5 gallons of superseal 25 on my pavers arround my pool a few month a go but they didn’t get any shine or anything should I put mor sealant in order to make it look wet or should I put superseal 30 instead of 25 .
I would look at the Surebond SB-442 (surebond-stain-cleaner)

I have Belgard Mega Latif pavers that were installed last year. The pavers are fairly stain and dirt free. What cleaner would work for a general cleaning prior to sealing?
I would look at a solvent based sealer. One of these three:
SuperSeal Matte SuperSeal25 SuperSeal30

I have concrete pavers around Swimming Pool. I would like to Seal them and I’m looking for a product. What do you recommend around a Pool? Water base or Solvent base? Something that will last in the Florida Sun. Semi- Gloss, Possible Mat. (Want them to look like they do when their wet.)
If it is just dirt and grime then pressure washing should be fine.
Any sealer would work. Just depends if you want to seal without changing the appearance or you would like to change the appearance with a gloss/wet look.

I have installed patio using old red brick from another home that were just set in dirt and they are very dirty with mostly mud and never had mortor on them. can i just pressure wash them and what product would you reccommend to seal them. Not sure what look I want, But is the gloss finish slippery?
Both the Matte and the 25 will darken the color of your pavers. The only difference is that the Matte has an additive to lower the shine. It will have a little though.
What is the fire pit made of?

I live in Florida, I have a new patio with tumbled Tremeron that is 4 weeks old. I am not sure of the difference of your 2 products. I do not want a shiny look. Also, can the outer part of my fire pit be sprayed with the sealer too?
Just so you know there is no way to stop mold from growing on top of any surface. Periodic maintenance to clean and apply a sealer will help minimize this though.
I would use a pressure washer and a solution of 1 part bleach to 3 parts water. This will clean the dirt and grime while the bleach will help kill the mold spores.
Applying a brick paver sealer will help minimize the regrowth. Might want to look at a joint sand stabilizer as well. http://www.brickpaversealer.com/sb-1300

I had thin pavers installed on patio around pool ( faces South and Southwest ) just past November. I had them make sure the old patio was pressure cleaned before they began their work, although I was told that it wouldn’t be necessary. I informed the installer that I wanted to be sure there would be no mold coming up from a dirty, old concrete patio underneath new pavers, and he said the cement mixture had a mold fighter that killed anything, and nothing would grow. Once finished, they never sealed the patio. Now there is a lot of green and black mold growing, both on the edges of the pavers and in the sand between the pavers. What type of cleaning measures should be done, what type of sealant would be best?
Unfortunately it nearly impossible to tell if a previous sealer that was used was water based or solvent based.

My dilemna is the fact that many sealer applicators do not take the time to research or test the type of sealer used previously and end up adding additional coat(s),only to haze the look of the sealer. How do you suggest that we advise the general public that you cannot mix a solvent-based paver sealer with a water-based paver sealer? I know there are several inividuals that provide a sealing service (as a side business) only to make a quick dollar but homeowners that hire these individuals only provide a disservice to the industry. To strip a bad sealing job costs the homeowner usually twice the cost of the original application!! Thank you.
Yes either the SB-1300or the SB-7000 will work for your driveway. The main difference between the two is the 7000 has more of a shine.

I’m thinking on sealing my pavers driveway. Our cars roll up the driveway 6 times a day. Will SB-1300 work well in this application? What about SB-7000?
Washing with water only will not remove the white haze. Xylene only works if the previous sealer was solvent based.
Most likely you will need to strip off everything and start over. Unfortunately you will probably need to re sand as well.

A new company power washed, added polymeric joint sand and sealed my brick driveway with a water based sealer.some areas of haze were left behind after the sand administration due to excess sand being left behind. These areas were removed with diluted vinegar scrubbing. The whole driveway was also scrubbed down with the vinegar solution. After a day of brick drying, a water based sealer was applied.Using a new power sprayer for the first time.they unfortunately sprayed on too much sealer in certain areas leaving scattered milky discolorations which became evident after a rainfall and after a second finer sealer coat had been applied .Since this happened a day ago would power washing the remove the discoloration by itself or would a stripper be also required? Not sure that xylene would be effective. The driveway had never been sealed before,This has also involved my backyard patio. The driveway bricks are 12 years old and the patio bricks are 8 years old.Any advice would be appreciated.
If he used 4 coats and there was not any gloss then something is wrong. Either he didn’t use what he said or Quickrete has something wrong with the sealer.
The SuperSeal30 is out highest gloss and definitely gives a nice shine:

We had our pavers installed 2 yrs ago. the paver owner said wait a year or 2 before you get them sealed to see how you like the natural look. So we just had the pavers sealed with 4 coats of high gloss quikcrete, by the same guy. It is not shiny or nothing, I hate it. Is there a better product that give give me the wet look that I want?
The majority of the Paver Sealers will help solidify the sand. The acrylic that is present in the paver sealers will harden the sand. This will help with erosion from rain and minimize the weeds. A couple of sealers are specially designed for joint sand stabilization:
My pavers are constantly getting weeds and grass in the sand between them. I am tired of pressure washing all the time. Any suggestions on a sealer that will prevent the weeds?

Either solvent or water based is good. Solvent is more popular and has a higher gloss in most cases.

No it would make it shine less as you would be thinning the sealer.
thank you. what would happen if i mixed 40% xylene with super seal 25 ? would it make the sealer shine more ?? just curious
Solvent based
is super seal 25 water based or solvent based ?
It does not matter.
Solvent based paver sealers have a higher solid content and usually give a richer look when done.
Water based paver sealers are easier to apply but require 2 or more coats to achieve what one coat of a solvent based sealer will.
I have a new paver walkway. Is it better to seal it with a solvent or water-based sealer? What are the pros and cons of each type.
Yes you can seal the fire pit as well on the outside. Would not do the inside.
The fire pit is also Tremeron “fire pit kit”, just a darker shade then the pavers.
Both the Matte and the 25 will darken the color of your pavers. The only difference is that the Matte has an additive to lower the shine. It will have a little though.

Either the SB-600 or the Defy Paver Sealer
Which brand is the best for water based paver sealer ?
Yes either the SB-1300or the SB-7000 will work for your driveway. The main difference between the two is the 7000 has more of a shine.

Yes Surebond sealers work well on all types of pavers.
Hi,
I’m starting a new business of paver restoration. Does Surebond work on all the different manufactures pavers?
A latex based stripper will not work. Either will a steam cleaner.
Thanks for the reply.Would a latex based stripper do the job? Have you ever used a steam power washer to remove a water based sealer?
