Paver Sealer Turned White

Paver Sealer Turned WhiteBrick Paver Sealer Remover and Stripping Instructions

Brick pavers can make beautiful exterior surfaces, from driveways and sidewalks to patios and landscape walls. Sealing brick pavers can enhance their natural beauty and provide lasting protection from Mother Nature.

There are many types of brick paver sealers. Water-based, oil-based, and acrylic sealers are just a few examples. They can come in many finishes, from matte to a glossy “wet look.” No brick paver sealer will last forever, so maintenance is a necessity.

When an old brick paver sealer simply wears off and fades away, the surface can be cleaned and refinished with a new one. But sometimes, brick paver sealers can fail prematurely. This happens for several reasons.

Overapplication is a common occurrence. This causes the brick paver sealer to turn white or yellow and become an eyesore. A cheap or inferior paver sealer may fail before you expect it to. Moisture is also an enemy of a brick paver sealer and can cause a sealer to fail.

When a brick paver sealer fails it is necessary to remove it before you can reapply and a new coat of paver sealer. RAD PaintStrip Brick Paver Sealer Remover is the only product on the market that will remove most acrylic “wet look” brick paver sealers.

This brick paver sealer remover is user-friendly and can be applied in a few easy steps.

1. Roll the brick paver sealer remover onto the failed sealer. Best to apply in sections of about 100 sq. feet at a time. This will allow the stripper to stay active and not dry out.

2. Let the sealer remover dwell on the failed paver sealer for 15-20 minutes.

3. Pressure wash the brick paver surface. Reapply to stubborn areas as needed.

Brick paver sealer remover coverage rates can vary depending on the sealer being removed. Check the coverage rates for the product you use. Always follow the manufacturer’s instructions and wear protective gear when handling.

After removing the existing failed brick paver sealer, rinse the surface thoroughly and let the brick pavers dry for 1-2 days before re-sealing.

Keeping your brick pavers sealed and maintained improves their appearance and longevity. It is a great way to protect your investment, and by following these guidelines and using a quality brick paver sealer remover, it can be an easy weekend project.

I used Masonry Defender Low Gloss Paver Sealer and applied it to pavers that were not real dry. Maybe over applied in certain areas because spryer tip was not working well. White residue has covered large portions of the paver area. How can I fix this problem

We stained our concrete pavers the perfect color using Direct Colors Acid Stain.  Then we made the mistake of sealing them with the same company’s sealer. The sealer turned the pavers very dark and shiny.  Can we use this remover to restore the unsealed look?

It was on there when we purchased the house.  We don’t have information of the type or brand.  We had someone test it and they said it was an oil base.  It’s very white between pavers around the pool.  They want $3 per foot and we have appx. 3000 sq ft.  Thinking we will do spot sealant remover where it needs it ourselves before having it resealed.  Just don’t know what kind to use.

I have an apt in a NYC building. sadly, big walls of red brick were sealed with a glossy finish. prior to that, the brick was an array of beautiful natural colors that had been assembled and faded over 100 years… do you have any products and advise for me to remove brick sealer to get rid of the now glossy and dark red finish?? I’m desperate to restore the brick back to its original glory… thank you!! Aaron

Brick pavers on porch have an old Thompson’s Brick Sealer on them. Trying to remove it and reseal. Have tried recommendations from many Home Improvement Stores here locally. Some suggestions have been paint remover, mineral spirits, etc. They have helped a little, but no overall major improvements. Whitish film on the surface now of many of the bricks. Would this product take care of the job at hand? Tired of trying suggestions from these retailers that do not work!
But I know this is not an impossible task. There HAS to be some type of solution to the problem!
Thanks, in advance, for advice, suggestions, and feedback!

I applied valspar gloss sealer to my pavers and the next day there were cloudy or milky looking areas on the pavers. I have spent a lot of money trying to get these removed and not successful. What can I do to get these areas of the valspar sealer I used off. Looks terrible and not what I expected at all. I have spent lots of time trying to get this ugly site removed.

More then likley yes. Might want to clean and do one test spot with the new sealer to make sure it dries correctly after 24 hours. Look at the Super Seal 25 Paver Sealer.

I would not say it has discolored and it has not turned white. The main reason I am asking is because the pavers just look dull and not anywhere near what they looked like three years ago. Water seems to immediately soak in as soon as I apply it to most areas. Does this mean I can just clean the deck without needing to strip it?

Has the SB-1300 discolored or failed by peeling, turning white, etc? If you spill water on the pavers, does it bead or soak in shortly?

3 years ago when I had my patio installed using Belgard pavers. At the advice of a friend I sealed the pavers using Surebond 1300 Joint Stabilizing sealer (water based). My deck is now looking dull and has lost all of its original color vibrance. Do I need to use a sealer remover prior to using a new sealer? I would like to try a “wet look” sealer this time to bring back some of the pavers original look.
