Wet Look Paver Sealer

Wet Look Paver Sealers for 2019

Wet Look Paver Sealers are not the same as adding a gloss or a shine. A “Wet Look” relates to the darkening of the brick similar to as if wet with water. These sealer types can also have different shine levels:

  • No gloss
  • Matte or low luster
  • Semi-Gloss
  • High Gloss.

In addition, Wet Look Paver Sealants can help solidify the jointing sand between the brick pavers.

Here is a list of the Wet Look Paver Sealers we sell:

SuperSeal 30

-The SuperSeal 30 is a high acrylic sealer that will darken the colors considerably while leaving a modest shine level similar to a gloss. Solvent-based.

SuperSeal 25

-The SuperSeal 25 will enhance the colors of your pavers dramatically will leaving a semi-gloss shine level. This is a solvent based sealer.

SuperSeal Matte

-Same as the SuperSeal25 but with an additive to lower the shine level to a matte finish. This sealer will give a rich wet look.

MasonrySaver Paver Sealer

-A Water-based sealer that will leave a moderate darkening and shine level.

SB-6000 Wet Look Sealer

-SB-6000 does not leave a gloss but does enhance the color similar to as if wet. Water based.

Take into consideration the gloss levels will vary depending on the porosity and application coverage of the sealer.

I have cambridge pavers which were sealed with Behr natural sealer several years ago. I would like to reseal with a sealer that will NOT leave a film on the surface but will darken the pavers and give them a wet look. Will SB 6000 do it?

Yes, as long as the Behr has not discolored.

There is no discoloration, but drops of water still bead on the surface. I’m afraid the pavers won’t absorb the new sealer. Will this be a problem?

Hard to say. Best to test an area as that is the only way to know for certain.

Is there a good sealer and possibly sand joint hardener for actual brick from a brick yard, not concrete pavers. We have a brick entryway that we would like to redo the sand joints and seal. We tried one product years ago and it looked great at first but after the first winter the dark brick looked like it had a white coating. I assumed the product absorbed water and became milky or separated from the brick surface.

If the sealer is still white, you will need to chemically strip it: https://www.brickpaversealer.com/paver-sealer-stripper

As long as the brick is concrete, then you can use any of the wet sealers we offer. Something like this: https://www.brickpaversealer.com/matte-gloss

So I was sold Behr paver sealer 🙁 water based, makes surface very slippery and did not darken at all 🙁 I was told i have to strip it now? *angry face* and protect my garden plants in process as best i can *angry face*
1) so I want the wet look!!!!!!!!!! I want all the color possible to be brought out of the stone!
2) I do NOT want any shine as the stone adjacent to it on house does not.
4) as easily applied as possible but if the product i require is more labour intensive it is what it is
5) so i have a landing area about 5′ off ground, the wall under it and 6 steps down the side. they are pavers and the steps are formed coloured concrete. typical masonry stone you get , not natural stone. oh and i do NOT want slippery as the sealer now when wet my steps were crazy slippery and its not winter yet!!!

Yes, you will need to strip off the Behr. For the sealer, use this: https://www.brickpaversealer.com/wet-look/no-gloss

This is a penetrating sealer, not a filming sealer. It will repel water but it should not be slippery since it does not have a shine. We do not ship to Canada from this website.

Hello,

It is not possible to make a certain color come through so not sure what you mean? Sealing with a wet look sealer will enhance all so it looks like it is wet with water.

We had the patio put in last year and we used dawn mist and pebble taupe richcliff unilock pavers. We are thinking of sealing it but the color of the pebble taupe hasn’t come through to make them stand out from the dawn mist. Should we wait to seal it or is there another product that will remove whatever is added to the block during the manufacturing process .

You will get a richer wet look with the SS VOC over the SB-6000. The SB-6000 does not have shine but the VOC does.

What is the difference in the wet look between the SuperSeal25 low VOC vs the Surebond-6000? If they have the same wet look, the I prefer the SB-6000 because it’s not glossy. However, if the wet look is much better on the SuperSeal25, then I would get that instead and live with the gloss look. It’s a trade-off thing … Thanks!

You will need two coats with the SB-6000

Hi, thanks for the quick response! One follow-up question. My concrete pool deck hasn’t been sealed in a while. Can I use one coat as recommended or do I need two. My contractor is telling me I need two. Thanks!

Use the SB-6000 for this scenario as it will not be slippery, does not have a gloss, and no need for an additive.

Hi, I have a stamped concrete pool deck. Most importantly I’m looking for something that is not slippery and is not glossy. I like the more natural look even if it is a “wet” look. I’m not sure whether the SB-6000 or the SuperSeal Matte would be a better choice. Also my deck hasn’t been sealed in a while. As such, can I use one coat as recommended or do I need two. Finally, do I need another agent mixed with the sealant to make the surface less slippery?

No the SB-6000 will not work well. Unfortunately our sealers are designed more for concrete pavers, stamped, etc and are not designed for your application scenario.

We have a very large brick fireplace wall with water marks from leaky roof (now fixed by previous owner). Have cleaned with detergent and vinegar. Looks great when wet but when dry still see water marks. Brick hearth seems to have some kind of sealer on it as easy to clean and has slight gloss to it. Home built in 1954 so not sure what was used on hearth. Would SB6000 be a good product for the vertical brick to give wet look without gloss? Wall is 15ft wide by 12ft tall. How many coats would I need to seal properly and make easier to clean? How much product would I need? Thanks for your help.

SB-6000 does not have any gloss. The only thing you could try is another layer of the same.

I applied 2 layers of Masonry Saver Paver Sealer to untreated stone pavers that had been in the Florida sun for 18 months. It looks great and brought back the color and left a moderate sheen. I would like to give it more of a glossier wet look. Should I add another layer of MSPS or can I add a different water based product like SB-6000?
Thanks!

They are both breathable. Super Seal Matte is not allowed in CA. The other is allowed in most of CA but not in the 4 counties of LA area.

Is this a breathable sealer. Or is that not so important. I hear a lot of people talk about water trapped under finish causing a white look. I do live in CA so very strict voc

We just put in 600sf patio of Belgard pavers wifeel wants to enhance give like a wetotal look. I would not like it to glossy but a little sheen is fine. Would like something that a homeowner can do him self I’m very handy. And would like it to last a while couple years. Sprinklers will hit the edges so not want real slippery when wet and the ease of recoating would be a plus

Nate, a wet look sealer will make the pavers richer in color, similar to as if wet with water. Look at the SuperSeal25 or the SS30/

Look at the SB-488 and the SB-442 for the prep. Let dry for a couple of days after prep before sealing.

We installed a new concrete paver walnut tinted patio earlier this summer. Want to seal it with a wet look..like the looks of the Sure Bond 6000..Currently there is some effloresence, leaf stains and a few small oil stains. Know that it is important to have it cleaned before seAling. what are your suggestions for cleaning

how long does the patio need to dry after the patio is cleaning.

Hi-
My backyard was covered with interlocking pavers. Id like to achieve the dark color of the pavers just like when its wet. Which product will work best to darken the color as that is my main goal? Regardless if its glossy or not.

There are not oil based products but solvent based. No way to tell by looking.

Have a brick paver driveway.Need to reseal, but do not know which type of sealer was used originally. We were told that the reseal must be an oil based product which will be applied at the homeowner’s risk. The person we are dealing with states that the sealer that is on it, is oil based. How can he tell just by looking?
I don’t know what to do. Thanks

Nothing can be done except adding grip. It is was just applied, the slipping will minimize in 2-3 weeks as it fully cures out.

I applied two coats of superseal25 semi-gloss on a stamped concrete patio using a roller. Looks great. However there is a lawn adjacent to it where some water splashes on this patio from the sprinklers everyday. This is causing the little kids to slip a bit. Can anything be done to prevent slipping ? I am aware of the super grip additive, but did not use that since this is stamped concrete and pretty rough. Any tips ? Thanks

I am looking to seal my new driveway and patio. The pavers that have been installed are Old Chicago Clay pavers. I would like to seal them so I can achieve a wet look…and a gloss finish. What product would you recommend I use?

Hi,
So nothing to protect fire pit and the 4′ wall on each side of it? Won’t it look old or out of place? Maybe semi gloss for patio and stairs and matte for pit-walls? Why not seal it?
Thanks…again

Randy, I would not seal the blocks on the fire pit. Use the SuperSeal 25 and it can be rolled or sprayed on with the Chapin 1949 Sprayer we will sell. One 5 gallon pail will do 500 sq. feet.

Do you suggest spraying or rolling the sealer on? How long does your shipping take and how much do you recommend for a 20×20′ patio?
Thanks, Randy

caribq, I would remove the residue first as it is possible it would show through the sealer. I am not sure what will remove the dust.

Just completed laying 12×12 Terra Cotta pavers in my patio. Some pavers were cut to complete the edges using a dry saw that covered the existing pavers with dust. After washing off the dust the pavers dried with white residue from that dust. When wet the residue is not evident. If a sealer is applied would it show the white residue when it dries? Is there something that can remove the residue? What sealant would be best for these Terra Cotta pavers? Thank you in advance for your response.

You can apply to the Stamped Concrete but sure how it will look for the tops of the wall. I would do a test spot first.

We just finished sealing our new brick paver patio with SuperSeal 25. Love the wet look and wondering if could use SuperSeal 25 on decorative concrete walls and borders around patio & lining our driveway? Walls are stamped but top of border & walls are plain flat surface. We would like the same gloss look as the patio but wondering if it is enough protection to prevent deterioration from rain & snow?

If all the pavers look even when wet with water that applying a wet looks sealer to all the pavers will even it out and enhance the appearance. You cannot “spot” treat just those pavers.
